Who We Are

We Are A Jesus Church ~

History tells us that Jesus of Nazareth lived in the first century, was crucified on a Roman cross in Jerusalem, and then buried in a borrowed tomb.  Three days later, the tomb was found empty, and eye witness accounts of his resurrection began to surface.  This was such a pivotal event, people began to put their faith in Jesus and live their lives in such a way as to become like him!  It was because of these events that the Jesus movement began.

Our church is a part of this movement.  Maybe the best way to describe us is this statement: We are a Jesus church.  A gathering of people who echo this statement of faith passed down through the ages: We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

As A Jesus Church, This is What We Believe:

About God: We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About the Bible: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About Humanity: People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character.  People are the supreme object of God’s creation.  Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”.  This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

About Salvation: This is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it.  We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.  Only by trusting in Jesus, as God’s offer of forgiveness, can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.  Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord.  Those accepting Jesus should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him.

About Eternity: People were created to exist forever.  We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation.  To be eternally separated from God is Hell.  To be forever in union with Him is eternal life.  Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

About the Christian Life: We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

OUR MISSION:

To make disciples of Jesus, who love God, love people and serve others.
